There is also the matter of secret research during the first two World Wars, especially the achievements of Hans Kammler's secret Nazi SS black projects group, as well as the financing of these secret groups by wealthy industrialists and the stolen loot from the wars. There is even some speculation that one of these groups may have tried an expedition to Mars around 1905-1908 using their exotic technology. There is some evidence that at least one of these groups achieved heavier-than-air vehicles which could reach speeds of 200 miles per hour before the 1900s. In the minds of the above authors, this came about due to clandestine research into technologies and areas of science which the general public is taught are 'fraud' and 'fiction.' Working as far back as the early 1800s (or even earlier), secretive groups explored exotic technology and science primarily in the areas of flight and energy. In the sense Dolan and the above researchers use it, it is a group (or groups) of people who experience their world in a radically different way, largely due to working with knowledge and technology which is top secret or completely forbidden to 'mainstream' society.
